PRC Alliance Principles
PRC Alliance members commit to supporting the following principles.
Note: The PRC Alliance recognises that some PRC Implementers will need time to socialise these principles with their communities, and therefore, it will take time to transition to full adoption. We anticipate that PRC Implementers will work toward maximising alignment with the PRC Alliance Principles over time.
1. Openness
Maximise openness in the three stages of the PRC model:
- Publish: Make the research article or other research output to be reviewed openly available without delay, for example on a preprint server or in a repository.
- Review: Make peer review reports openly available in a timely manner. Peer review reports may be signed or anonymous.
- Curate: Make curation materials, such as editorial assessments, openly available in a timely manner.
2. Equity
Foster an equitable PRC ecosystem by minimising financial and structural barriers for authors, reviewers, readers, and other stakeholders.
3. Interoperability
Maximise interoperability of PRC services to enable more seamless interactions across the PRC stages, for example by adopting common standards, persistent identifiers, structured metadata, and open protocols.
4. Stakeholder governance
Enact a transparent governance structure that is representative of a given research community and other relevant stakeholder groups.
