What is publish, review, curate?
Publish, Review, Curate (PRC) is an umbrella term for scholarly publishing initiatives that build on the growing trend of open preprint sharing. It typically involves communities that review open articles or other research outputs, providing an evaluation and/or endorsement of the research object. PRC is a highly flexible model that can support a wide range of workflows and scholarly communities. It can, for example, replicate a typical scholarly journal by “publishing” reviewed articles or it can be applied in new and innovative ways. Because PRC offers a compelling alternative to the current model of scholarly publishing – which is slow, expensive, and based on opaque peer review processes – it has been growing in popularity across the scholarly communications landscape.
