A meeting in December 2024 identified a number of key actions that could help to accelerate PRC adoption in the community, listed below:
- Infrastructure: Develop easy to use, open source and hosted platforms for review and curation services.
- Standards: Develop and promote good practices and standards for metadata, formatting, and labelling of PRC artefacts
- Policy: Work with funders to help them understand PRC and ensure these publishing models are not excluded from research assessment processes
- Advocacy: Launch an advocacy strategy that presents a compelling narrative, case studies, and emerging evidence about the PRC model. Use this advocacy to ensure PRC initiatives are included in scholarly indexes
- Funding: Shift funding away from less community-based initiatives towards PRC services and platforms
